15th Anniversary & homemade envelopes

Today is our 15th Wedding Anniversary!

As I was absolutely in love with the card I made for Tom last year, it was really hard for me to come up with something I like at least roughly the same...but then I saw the gorgeous papers from the Lost & Found collection by My Mind´s Eye and instantly bought the Breeze "Boyish" Handsome Paper.

So here´s this year´s card - quite CAS :

I made an envelope too, so that I can participate in the CAS-ual Fridays´ challenge (card with a coordinating envelope)

A while ago I wondered, if I should buy more envelope dies, because I love the one that I have so much (the mini envelope die by Papertrey Ink) - but those envelope dies (doesn´t matter which company) are really expensive here! And I would still have only some certain sizes.
So I decided to make all my future envelopes myself - it´s so easy! Just a matter of a few minutes!

My dear friend Dj told me that she likes to make huge cards up to 6" x 7-1/2". So I wondered, how I would do an envelope for such a card, so that the points come together right .... I thought it would be best to measure the dimensions of the card and make some pencil marks on a 12"x12" paper before scoring...

I made a small drawing to explain, what I mean - the card is represented by the yellow sticky note:

I would score along the sides of the card then, fold the paper and cut off the needless corners.

Does anyone of you have another or better idea to do this?

Ok, I´ve to "fleet" to the kitchen now - preparing our anniversary-dinner: salmon toast with Prosecco and steaks with potatoes - yummy!

Thanks for stopping by today!

  2. Uli, this is so lovely. I'm sure your husband will love it; and especially the dinner. Thank you so much for working on this size envelope for me and your dimensions. I've tried something similar, but for some reason it still doesn't come out right. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. But I'll keep trying. Hugs, dj

  6. Congrats on your anniversary guys! Your card is great Uli, I'm sure hubby will love it, especially the words! I have my own way of making envelopes, they look like yours in the small picture. I recently bought a Martha Stewart score board and it comes with an envelope maker piece. It's very easy and hardly any glue is needed.
Thanks for sharing with us Uli.

  13. Congratulations Uli! 15 years is awesome! Your card is awesome! Perfect for your anniversary! I am so intimidated when making a card for Aaron. I felt bad but I bought him one this year! Hope your dinner was lovely! Sounded quite yummy! I need to try your envelope dimensions. I struggled with the 6x6 size.

  14. Hope you enjoyed your anniversary. Wonderful card. Your envelopes are fantastic, I can testify to the fact having held one in my hands, the beautiful flowery one to be exact. I have some envelope templates I made years ago, I'll have to look them out and post them. Hugs lin

  16. Merry Christmas Ulina and Happy Anniversary too! I looove your card for your husband it's perfect for a man and so beautiful too! Is your sentiment from a stamp? I find that it's difficult to make a card for a man that is well suited and gorgeous too! Thank you for your tips of envelopes. I have to make my own because I never make the same size cards ... although I know that I probably should but I don't want size to get in the way of creating. Sending warm wishes to you Ulina!
