Thanks a lot for all your very nice comments on my "friends" card !! I enjoyed reading them very much!!

Today I´ve a little continuation ... I gave this card to my sister-in-law, who is a very sweet person!

I added some facial care sachets and wondered what kind of envelope I should make... I decided to take a simple paperbag for snacks as base and stamped some vintage style stamps by Prima on it:

This pretty tissue paper rose was a handmade gift from LINDA - THANK YOU again!

Last week I ordered 2 "handmade/created by" stamps, because I wanted such stamps for a long time time now. Believe it or not - 2 days later I flipped through my (very) old "stamp stash" and found this stamp - I love it - and did not know, that I had it! It was part of a stamp set, so perhaps that´s the reason I did not pay any particular attention to it.

("Handgemacht von" is German for "handmade by")

So hear my advice: go through your old stash from time to time!!

Even though I´m not good at using sketches I tried my hands on this weeks Waltzingmouse Stamps Sketch Challenge... I ´m on diet right now but had a piece of very yummy marzipan - filled with plum jam and covered with chocolate - on my desk. I thought the best way to get rid of it, is NOT to eat it, but to use it for a card I´ll need on Saturday for friends...

I used the WMS Vintage Labels 18 stamp set which matches perfectly with the Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Eighteen and the WMS Victorian Frippery stamp set - both are gorgeous!

This card reminded me a little bit of our favourite café located in the ancient inner city of Zadar in Croatia: hubby and I love to sit outside in the sun and read an exciting book or a magazine … it´s very pretty inside, too (LOVE the red chandelier!), but the icing on the cake is the very old inner part of the house…

Hi all!

How are you? It´s bitterly cold here in Austria and I´m frreeeezzzing!!! So, I´m longing for spring!

According to my longing I´d like to share 2 vernal mini cards today:

Ok, I know, these were only a matter of minutes and they are no spectacular piece of arts ... but ... let me tell you the story behind : I bought a perfume with a really nice fragrance in Italy last year ... so far, so good... but .... let me show you the packaging:

It was so pretty on both sides, that I knew for sure that I would make something with it from the moment I bought it :-) And - as always - I couldn´t resist to use some glitter to sparkle it up :-)

Playing with cutting dies

Did you know, that a cutting die isn´t just a cutting die - but can also be an embossing tool?!

Though I knew it, I never tried it myself - until now....

1) For today´s project I cut red cirlce-strips with a border die and adhered it to my card.

2) Then I put my silicone shim UNDER my card so that the die would not cut through the card but only leave an impression... you have to play a little with the correct thickness of your stack of plates and shims depending on what embossing machine you have.

And this is my result:

An aunt of mine will need a surgery in about 2 weeks and I need a card to ensure her, that we think of her and care about her....

She was the one who taught me to sew, when I was a child - so every time I think of her, I have a sewing or seamstress theme in mind...

Embossing in cutting dies

What? Embossing what? In cutting dies?

Ok, I´ll clear up the mystery: did you notice this detail on my last card?

I used a Spellbinders cutting die and embossed the die cut while it was still in the die.

Does everybody know how to do this without harming the embossing folder?

If not, here´s how:

1) die cut any shape you like

2) turn it over and lay it onto the flat side of an embossing folder

3) put a silicone shim and an embossing plate on top - leave the embossing folder OPEN!

4) walk it through the embossing machine - turn it over and voilá!

A perfectly embossed piece with a small frame all around thanks to the cutting die!

As I´m NO fan of wintertime, I decided to use it for a very bright-colored card...

15th Anniversary & homemade envelopes

Today is our 15th Wedding Anniversary!

As I was absolutely in love with the card I made for Tom last year, it was really hard for me to come up with something I like at least roughly the same...but then I saw the gorgeous papers from the Lost & Found collection by My Mind´s Eye and instantly bought the Breeze "Boyish" Handsome Paper.

So here´s this year´s card - quite CAS :

I made an envelope too, so that I can participate in the CAS-ual Fridays´ challenge (card with a coordinating envelope)

A while ago I wondered, if I should buy more envelope dies, because I love the one that I have so much (the mini envelope die by Papertrey Ink) - but those envelope dies (doesn´t matter which company) are really expensive here! And I would still have only some certain sizes.

So I decided to make all my future envelopes myself - it´s so easy! Just a matter of a few minutes!

My dear friend Dj told me that she likes to make huge cards up to 6" x 7-1/2". So I wondered, how I would do an envelope for such a card, so that the points come together right .... I thought it would be best to measure the dimensions of the card and make some pencil marks on a 12"x12" paper before scoring...

I made a small drawing to explain, what I mean - the card is represented by the yellow sticky note:

I would score along the sides of the card then, fold the paper and cut off the needless corners.

Does anyone of you have another or better idea to do this?

Ok, I´ve to "fleet" to the kitchen now - preparing our anniversary-dinner: salmon toast with Prosecco and steaks with potatoes - yummy!

I used an "A day for daisies"-image ( "Holding Fire Flies"), so I´d like to mention this challenge first ("anything goes").

PS: Oh, I feel so "yellow" today :-) ...so I´d also like to show you a cake I made for my parent´s wedding anniversary... a Mangocream-Chocolate-Cake ... I know, the embellishments (out of white chocolate) are not formed perfectly, but I like that - so you know that it is "homemade with love" :-)
For the centerpiece I edited a wedding picture of my parents with Photoshop ( I added some digital gems) and sent the file to a company, that printed it out on sugary "paper"...

(I think it was such a unique idea of my Mum to leave out the flower bouquet and take a Bible instead!)

Anybody ever heard of Piran?
Maybe not - it´s a small town/seaport in Slovenia, first mentioned in the 7th century.

Here´s a view from the ancient city walls:

One of the most famous houses of the town is the Venetian House - built in the middle of the 15th century - it was a present from a Venetian merchant to his beautiful mistress in Piran:

As you can imagine, this was a big scandal then and common talk of everybody! So the merchant installed an inscription on the wall, that says:" Let them talk."

In my imagination I can see this beautiful woman standing on her balcony ...

It was really nice strolling through this "steeped in history"-town.... but it wasn´t too warm, so hubby and I decided to warm up in a nice little tavern... we LOVE fish, so - being at the sea - we got fresh, unbelievably delicious fish dishes to eat ... just look at this fish soup:

... and can you imagine, that this was grilled seafood for ONE person?!

"Beam me up to Piran again, Scotty!!!" :-)

On the ground floor of the Venetian House we found a shop, that was selling sea salt for all purposes and table salt in several qualities. I bought some salt as souvenir and small present...

As we crafters never give away a gift unembellished and without a card, I used some leftover scraps to make a small card... the black patterned paper behind the Maya Road cardboard cameo is a leftover and also the grey strip at the bottom - there was a piece missing on one corner, but I hid this by adhering a rose...

Just in case you´re wondering why on earth I´m telling you this: there´s a challenge at the Cuttlebug spot : Left Overs - use them!

... the stamps are from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

"Snow" cute!

I needed a cute wintry and "snowy" image lately and remembered that my dear friend Dorcas used a super cute image last winter... so I searched for it, found it and bought it instantly... Mo Manning´s images are so adorable!

By accident this week´s challenge at Mo´s Digital Challenge is "The Great Outdoors", so I think, my card fits in this challenge....

As I´m no natural talent in coloring and drawing, I colored the image partly with Photoshop and added glitter glue...

... a little stamping inside the card...

Just in case you´re wondering what´s inside...

And I think you agree, that a gift is twice as nice in a pretty gift bag!

Woodland Animals

Here it is again: my f a v o u r i t e stamp... don´t know why I love this owl so much!

Today´s card is for the challenges at Wee Memories : "Woodland Animals" and the CR84FN Color Challenge

It was inspired by the novel "The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett - first published in 1910/1911, now a classic of English children´s literature.

I love the aura of this owl - it seems to hide a secret.... to confirm this impression I added a piece of a door lock, that I purchased a while ago at an antique flea market....

The second picture caught the sparkle on the owl´s feathering and around her eyes a bit better...

Bling It Up!

MY FAVOURITE TECHNIQUE!!! So I HAVE to participate in HEROARTS November challenge!

Bling It Up! - Bring out the trimmings and make your projects shine! “Blinged” projects can be of ANY theme.

I LOVE all things "blingy", shiny, glittery, sparkly... I can´t get enough of the stars at night or the sunshine on a water-surface or snowy landscape... or rhinestones or glitter.... or diamonds or zircons... or whatever sparkles in the light ! LOVE IT!

But there are also more decent ways to bling something up : PEARLS!! Love them, too!!

When I started working as a chemist 20 yrs. ago I gifted myself with a beautiful pearl necklace with a soft rose-colored shine... I adore it to this day!

So everytime I get the chance to bling something up - I will do it!

This HEROARTS stamp ("Peacock") my Mum gifted me with, is perfect for this purpose!

I stamped and embossed the image and colored it in with my Promarkers.

An owl for "Cutie"

"Celebration" is over - and I´m relieved - my friend (the medical assistant) liked her card I posted HERE :-)

But her sweet little daughter - I call her Cutie - should not come away empty-handed either - so I made her a cute little owl I saw on THIS BLOG POST The (Austrian) author posted the instructions HERE

I filled it with chocolate-candies...

... and set it on her plate....

I guess, she liked it... at least the chocolate in it!

(This was, before we gave her some pillows on her chair!)

Just in case you wonder what we had for dinner on this festive evening: my hubby wished for a salmon-cream-tarte with caviar and crayfish...

... and I made an Indian dish as main course - yummy!

Hi all!

A big THANK YOU to everybody who sent me an email to ask if I´m ok !
Yes, I am - it was just a very busy time and so my blog went on vacation for the last few weeks - sadly I didn´t go with it on vacation - instead of I learnt a lot new things I´ll need for my job in the future... a bit exhausting ...

One of my best friends has a comparable busy time right now - she´s a medical secretary and had a few courses since spring - a lot to learn but she had excellent marks on all exams - I´m so proud of her - time for a little celebration I think!!

So - we invited her and her family next week and this is what she´ll find on the table in front of her seat:

One of my "babies" (= sticky-notes-booklets) fits into this challenge: I wanted to make a masculine one - so I chose black for the cover and heat embossed the clock face and the other circles in a decent hue of gold and added some parts of old clocks I bought months ago at a flea market... pretty vintage!

Hi there,

I was a lazy blogger lately - we´ve been on a well deserved vacation in September and enjoyed it a lot. I´ll share some pictures in the next few weeks…

For today I´ve a small card to share – I bought the “Tiny Envelope Die” from Papertrey Ink – and it´s addictive !

It´s so easy now to cut an envelope – just 1 minute including folding and adhering and you´ve a cute, tiny envelope in an adorable size!

And the matching cards are finished in a few minutes, too!

Fanatical About Botanical Challenge in the Moxie Fab World

The botanical style is rrreally trendy right now... and Cath from The Moxie Fab World hosts a challenge!

I didn´t want to miss it (deadline is tomorrow/midnight) and so I made this card:

I attached a vellum pouch to the card front and inserted a skeleton leaf, which I had in my stash for ages - a butterfly image from the graphic´s fairy, rhinestones and a ticket from the stamp set "Eline´s Huis Butterflies" from mariannedesign.nl complete the card.

I really love this card - this light blue is one of my favourite colors - especially in summer - and butterflies are my all-time favourite!
AND - it is my 1st one with sewing/stitching on it!
I had a very old (35yrs.) sewing machine, but hadn´t used it for 20 yrs. ... when my aunt visited me a month ago, she helped me to "revitalize" it again - and now I don´t want to remove this machine from my desk anymore! I also love her "vintage style" :-)

Do you know that: when there´s so much daily routine, there´s sometimes only a pale face looking from the mirror back to you - but after summer vacation or a relaxing afternoon at the pool - you´re a shining star again!

My swimming pool is only small and tiny - only 3,5m in diameter - but I can´t look away from this view on hot summer days ... cooling down in it is such a delight!

So, come on and let´s relax a little!!

Apricots everywhere!

Hi there!

For those of you who wondered why I was so quiet in the last few weeks: I was busy doing LOTS of things - one of them was processing apricots.

Our tree (earlier this year) ...

... had "tons" of apricots this year:

I had to give away lots of them - too much for 2 people!

I stewed most of them to "Marillenröster" (more liquid than jam, with bigger pieces of fruit and less sugar than jam)

I also gave away some jars to my family in Styria - they do have lots of apple and cherry trees there, but no apricots - it´s not the right climate and soil there.

As you all know we crafters do NOT give away anything without prinking it up!

So even time was tight, I made small tags for some jars...

PHEW! Harvest is over now and I´m sooo happy about that!

Pipilonias Mai-Challenge

Bis jetzt war ich der Meinung, dass mein Name aus dem Russischen kommt - diese Challenge hat mich veranlasst, im Internet genauer nachzuforschen...

Ich habe sehr wenig gefunden... zwar gab es Hinweise darauf, dass es in Russland Frauen mit diesem Namen gibt, aber ich hab auch Hinweise bekommen, dass es diesen Namen im Polnischen und auch Tschechischen gibt... ich fand sogar einen Hinweis, dass es im Finnischen ein Wort ulina geben soll, das "heulen" (engl. howling) bedeutet...

Den deutlichsten Hinweis aber hab ich auf meinem Projekt verewigt: Ulina soll im Tschechischen eine Koseform von Ulrike sein und eine Bedeutungszusammensetzung von "Heimat" und "Herrscherin" sein...
Na dann!

Hier ist mein Projekt: ein Buch-Cover... ich möchte es mit der Bind-it-all zu einem persönlichen Notizbuch für mich binden... demnächst... wenn alle dringenden Arbeiten rund um Haus u. Garten erledigt sind... man glaubt ja nicht, was da im Frühjahr so alles an Arbeit anfällt!

... is to explain a name and to paper-piece...

Until now I thought, that Ulina is a Russian name - this challenge was the reason to search the Internet for more information....

I didn´t find lots of information... there were hints, that there are women with this name in Russia, but also in Poland and the Czech Republik... I even found a hint, that there is a Finnish word ulina that means "howling" (Is that true, Annemaritta?)

The best hint was from a list of names for females - and I used this one for my project: Ulina is a term of endearment for "Ulrike" and is a composition of the meanings "home country" and "ruler/regent".
Well!

This is my project: it´s a book cover... I´ll bind it with the Bind-it-all as soon as possible... days are very busy now for me because of all the things that have to be done around the house and in the garden!

It´s my 1st time being published!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At the end of 2010 I deliberated what my artsy goals for 2011 may be... and I thought by myself that it would be REALLY nice to see one of my cards in a magazine... ok... said... done.... I started submitting and - I got an acceptance notification even in December 2010!

I couldn´t wait to see my card there and I couldn´t imagine that I would be able to wait till May :-)

But - time flies - now we have May and I got my specimen copy last week!

A while ago my aunt bought some tiny espresso coffe cups and they came with really nice boxes - I told her NOT to throw away these boxes!
So she gave them to me and here is what I made - no, wait - I´ve to show you my inspiration first: my small plum tree - I love it - the fruits are gorgeous: big and sweet!

And now - here is what I made: I covered one box with designer paper and embellished the top... easy!

I think I´ll make more of these - they´ll be cute gift boxes!

Since I´ve started crafting it´s impossible for me to give anything away without jazzing it up…!

When I bought this stick (for flower pots), this duck was just plain black. So I wondered if this sweetie wouldn´t be even cuter with a rhinestone-eye and some white swirls stamped on her body… what do you think?!

SPRING...

… has finally reached the middle of Europe, too!

So, may I introduce you to our big apricot tree:

It was the only tree we could rescue while building our house… it is very old and taller than the house now…

This tree makes me happy in spring, when it is in full bloom and in summer, when the fruits ripen.

So, how did I get inspired by this beauty?!

Venezia/Venice/Venedig

My familiy and I usually go to Italy once a year (at least) - we love that country!

One day is always reserved for Venice (established in 5th century) - I´m impressed by the beauty of this city every year anew!

Please come with me on a short trip to Venice! You won´t regret it!

Isn´t the architecture just great?! Have you ever seen such gorgeous chimneys?!

We had lunch in this picturesque Trattoria...

The gondolas are so pompous!

This is the famous "Rialto" bridge over the "Canal Grande"...

We love to sit at the edge of the Canal Grande at the bottom of the bridge and enjoy the sun... people who know me will spot me on the picture...

Now, inspired by the opulence and pompous beauty of this city, I want to share with you a wedding card - a very "blingy" one... to do this city justice!

If the famous Giacomo Casanova (1725-1798) would have ever decided to marry, I would have sent him this one ;-)

Back home again

I´ve a terrible head-ache today, so I just want to let you know that I´m back home again from my beautiful weekend in…. can you guess it?

Here´s a hint for you:

… yes, you´re right… I´ve been to Italy the last few days to enjoy sweet life (“La dolce vita”).

I love to see pictures from other countries, so I assume that some of you might be interested in pictures from the cities I visited: Venice, Padua, Caorle. These are very picturesque cities!

I´ll show you some in the next few days….

Isn´t it such a heart warming thing to say “Thank You” and to get a “Thank you” back sometimes!?

These are my 2 “Thank Yous” for this week so far:

My sweet hubby surprised me and brightened my day with these colourful pretties – THANK YOU!!! *mwah*

My mother in law made us happy with a very good dish: salty pancakes filled with ham and cheese – rolled up – breaded and fried in hot oil --> DELICIOUS!! THANK YOU!!!

I had only a few minutes till she delivered this fantastic dish to pretty up her favourite chocolate bar … much better than giving it “naked” to her, isn´t it?

For this reason I love my new Big Shot – embossing and cutting is so easy and quick now!

Sorry for the uninspired picture … just made a quick shot and then the door bell rang…

Sadly we need this kind of cards sometimes…

I made this one on request – a very friendly old man died at the age of 82. He was the former chief of my aunt in the late 1960´s.

I chose decent colors, but also wanted to use a small stripe of the flower-patterned-paper, because she´ll write some words inside the card about the Bible´s message of hope for the deceased.

Rejected cards - but nevertheless happy (again)

Oh, yes, I submitted to Papercrafts Magazine, too - a few of the amazing number of 2760 entries were mine - but sadly this time all of my cards were not accepted... I felt very sad, because that´s the only opportunity to get a copy of this special issue (I´m already a subscriber of the regular magazine and enjoy every issue - we don´t have anything comparable here in Austria!).
I can´t buy the special issues here in Austria and I don´t buy it in the U.S., because it´s far too expensive because of the shipping costs they charge.

Thinking of you

Weather is still cold and we have frosty mornings here… so we keep enjoying our visits to the old Viennese Cafés… this time we visited Café Central again – because of the piano music – and look what we had: delicious hot chocolate with Amaretto liqueur and chocolate cake (me) and coffee with wipped cream and a very delicious “round chocolaty thing” (hubby) – it tasted wonderful and it was embellished with small pieces of gold! Our afternoon there was like a full day of vacation!

(Don´t ask for the amount of calories…)

Today I´d like to share with you a card with a digi by Mo Manning – I love this drawing!

I colored it with watercolors:

While I was doing mine, my aunt did the same card with colors I like a lot more!

I only chose the deep red of my card because of the person I wanted to give the card to. But I like the light blue a lot more!

Ich hab als symmetrische Form eine quadratische Karte mit quadratischem Rahmen gemacht und das Mittelstück ist eine aus Silberdraht, Strass und Perlen selbst gemachte Verziehrung.

Konzipiert hab ich sie als Gratulation zur Hochzeit… aber man kann sie sicher auch für einen Hochzeitstag etc. … verwenden.

For the month of February Pipilonia is looking for symmetrical projects with at least one self-made embellishment.

I made a square card with a square frame (symmetrical!) and a self-made embellishment from silver wire, a rhinestone and pearls as focal point.

I had a wedding in mind, but it might also be suitable for wedding anniversaries …etc…

Relaxing and Crafting in Croatia

We´re back home!

Oh, how wonderful our vacation was! 11 days of continuous sunshine within 14 days of vacation!
I´m not sure if it was true or if I was dreaming: I lay out in the sunshine with only my bathing clothes on! In February!

Usually I´m kind of sad, when vacation is over because deep in my heart I´m a traveller… but this time it´s better… not only that we had the most beautiful time in Croatia – I was also able to meet the gorgeous Nina B. from “Crafting in Croatia”! She is a fabuluous crafter and designer! You can see her work here http://ninabdesigns.blogspot.com/

Because of the fact that she parted from some older Papertrey Ink stamp sets, I was lucky to buy 3 PTI sets – GREAT! Sadly PTI has high shipping costs to Europe, so I didn´t buy me some until now, although I adore their beautiful sets. But now I have at least 3 older ones – and so I´m able to participate in their challenges – yay!!!

I feel very, very relaxed and even though it´s snowing outside :-( I feel happy!

(You´ve to know that in my opinion Austria is positioned on an absolutely wrong degree of latitude!)

So I want to start this week ( a little late) by sharing 2 cards I made last year – in fact my personal favourites of 2010:
“Sadly” they´re not in my possession any more, but I kow that they´re in appreciative hands .

The fabric is a scrap I rescued from the trash bin in a millinery store (or how do you call the stores where you buy fabric by yard/meter?) – the rest of the card is digitally created and printed.

Oh, I forgot the pearl – last year I loved strolling through some Viennese flea markets – I bought some old fashion-pearl-jewelery and cut it up (barbaric!) – so the middle of my fabric flowers is a shiny pearl.

Unconventional

I did something unconventional for a stamper:

I did not use any stamps and made a very quick card – to understand that, you have to hear the case history:
You have to know, that I´m known for my addiction for patterned paper napkins – I NEVER use just plain ones…
And I can hardly throw one away… so when I´m invited and I did not use my paper napkin, I always take it with me , because I know otherwise it would be thrown away!
Ok, I know, this sounds quite nuts, but … nobody´s perfect :-)

I thought the pattern/picture of this paper napkin is so nice – it could be a quite pretty card – so I laminated it and adhered that onto a card blank – and also embellished the envelope.

Ok… obviously I´m not so much a stamper, but a "papercrafter"….

I hope you are not vertiginous from shaking your head about my unconventional card :-)

Hi there,

Strange Reasons

Sometimes I hear men say, that women have quite strange reasons for buying things…. ok., that´s a cliché, but – sometimes they are right !

Last month I found 2 stamps from Stamping Bella (“Harriet” and “Henrietta”), which I liked very much – so I decided to buy them. Everything ok with that.

But then I saw a 3rd stamp and bought it, because it has the name of my Mum – “Gertie”!

I HAD to have it because of the name – pretty strange!

But fortunately the stamp is really lovely, too – so it was a good decision!

My 1st ever step-card … but not the last for sure! Guess, it´s my favourite technique at the moment...

A few years ago I had severe problems with my skin – the doctor said, I should minimize stress – so that´s what I do ! :-)

So I thought it´s a good idea to begin 2011 as I ended 2010: with a nice afternoon at a Viennese Café.

My hubby and I visited Café Museum… here´s what we had:

Sweet-chestnut-cake and hot chocolate with Cointreau and whipped cream – topped with fresh incredibly good smelling orange zest:

Hubby had raspberry-mousse-cake with his favourite “Einspänner”…

…. and then Café Sobiesky, which is Mokka with Wodka and honey

So I had a quite stress-free afternoon ;-) we stayed there for nearly 3 hours and enjoyed the treats, talking and reading newspapers and magazines...

OK, I don´t want to leave you with that now... here´s what I can offer you:

MY FAVOURITE RECIPE FOR APPLE CAKE... it is quick, easy and incredibly delicious smelling while baking - I love, when the whole house smells like a vanilla blossom!

* Cover a baking sheet or baking tin with puff pastry (ready from the supermarket).

* Peel some apples, cut them in slices and cover the dough.

* Beat 2 egg-whites

* Mix 2 yolks with 100g sugar and 10g vanilla suger until light and creamy, then add 500g sour cream (or 250g sour cream and 250g curd/quark) and 1 pack of pudding powder (size:usually enough for 0,5litre milk)

* Fold in the beaten egg-whites and pour this on the apples - smooth down

* Bake that for approx. 30min. at 175°Celsius (depends on your oven!) and enjoy the spreading scent of vanilla!

ENJOY WHILE STILL A LITTLE BIT WARM !!

Happy Anniversary ….to us!

14 years – where have they gone? Time really flies!

As I know, that men usually don´t care that much about cards, no great idea came to my mind and I decided to make no card this year – until yesterday…. yes, it´s true, men don´t care MUCH about them – but they DO care a LITTLE – at least they feel flattered the second they get it… women would put them on their table for a while, but my hubby stores them in a drawer… I´m satisfied with that ;-)

So yesterday I had a scrap of grey cardstock and the postman brought a package with a “small” haul (*hem*) … and one of my new stamps fitted exactly onto that scrap – and all of a sudden I had my idea … and the card finished within minutes!

It´s so easy once you´re inspired!

I hope he will like it – I will give it to him this evening, when we enjoy open sandwiches with cold-smoked salmon and 1 (or 2 or…) glasses of Prosecco… :-)

Unfortunately we´ve go to work tomorrow – so no time to stay up long… it´s easier to organise something more “fantastic” on weekends – but that´s ok…

It is still cold outside....

... so my hubby and I continue enhancing the "sunny side" of life...

We visited "Café Bräunerhof".
It is near the Habsburg city palace. Every Saturday there is live music at the café with a small orchestra of 3 playing waltzes and classical music. The furniture is from the 1920´s.
Bräunerhof has probably the largest selection of newspapers of all cafés in Vienna. According to its owner in 1996, the café spent 1600 dollars monthly on newspapers.(Wikipedia)

We had a cozy afternoon there ...

Still living… and a lightning-fast gift-wrapping

… but that´s not a matter of course.

I had a few very unpleasant days… let me tell you the story:

Last Wednesday I was so happy and full of joy, because I finally got Dorcas´ Blog Candy – so many beautiful things!! Thanks again!

And she sent me such a sweet card with even sweeter words in it!

But then…. later in the evening our unit which is responsible for the heating and the hot water, stopped working.

I called the customer service, but they were very unprofessional, made 2 mistakes and so my hubby and I had to endure 5 (!) days in a house with 13°C/55°F room temperature and -5°C/23°F outside. And we had no hot water to take a shower or warm our hands.

So you can imagine that I really wasn´t in the mood for being creative or blogging – I was angry!!! *gggrrr*

To ease the situation I made soufflés and cakes (chocolate cake with raspberries!) in the oven which was the only source for warmth.

Ok. Enough of that. Since yesterday the unit is working again and it´s warm in here again :-)

Not long ago I needed a quick packaging/gift-wrapping for our 3 nephews – they´re 7, 8 and 13 – to put money and sweets inside… because I had really no time, I remembered this kind of packaging – so quick and easy and still not usual – the boys liked them and opened them very carefully although they´re usually more on the wild side:

I left them quite plain to achieve a more masculine look - the embellished side was the one to open the packaging.

Improving wintry afternoons...

My hubby and I made the decision to cheer up those cold, wintry months with visits to the famous old Viennese cafés… most of them are existing now for more than 100yrs. – and it´s a special atmosphere there….

Last Saturday we visited the Café Central in the Inner City of Vienna – it´s a very beautiful café with piano music…it has been opened in 1868 … we had a really nice and cozy afternoon …. ignoring the cold and windy weather outside, reading magazines and enjoying coffee and hot chocolate for 4 hours!!

Everything is blue and white outside: the first snow has fallen!

The sky is blue and our garden is white! Beautiful!

... first glimpse out of my window...

I felt blue,too, the day before, so - according to my mood- I colored a picture... nothing very artsy, because I used felt-tip-pens for children, but it cheered me up... and so it did its duty.

I bought this stamp a while ago and never used it - what a shame - it´s so beautiful! I think I´ll start a series of small cards with it for my Mum...

Please don´t be too critical!

At least you can see the difference between glitter glue (feathers) and the Copic Spica pen (eyes)... the shine of the Spica pen is more elegant and not so obvious.... but it would have been too unimpressive for the feather-spots... so each of them is useful in its own way.

I was so inspired by the beautiful picture from the Vogue Magazine!

As many of you know, I can´t stop making my sticky-notes-booklets... so another one is born!
I was inspired by the deep red color and by the fashion theme...

I gave it as a gift to one of my aunts... I spent some very beautiful summer holidays with her and her family ... she taught me how to sew... so I thought this booklet would be perfect for her as a little gift :-)

The larger red and white pearls on the charm are freshwater pearls - wanted to add a little "luxurious" feel to it...

But it´s really a pitty, that I can´t find all colors of sticky-notes here in Austria... no ones in white or red! A disaster! So I had to add soft yellow ones - pink ones would have been even worse... *sigh*

Hope, you like it anyway - my aunt fortunately did :-)

Tut mir leid, dass das Licht so schlecht ist, aber ich musste bei Schreibtischlampenlicht ein Bild machen - hab die Challenge grad erst entdeckt und sie geht nur bis Mitternacht Ortszeit!

Das Damask-Motiv glitzert - leider kann man es am Foto nicht so gut erkennen...

Vor 2 Wochen hatte ich die besondere Freude ein Seifenblasen-Shooting mit einem süßen kleinen Mädchen zu machen… ich hatte es mir einfacher vorgestellt… sowohl Kleinkinder als auch Seifenblasen sind recht unberechenbar ;-)

Trotzdem mag ich die Ergebnisse – sicher auch, weil ich die Kleine ganz besonders gern mag!

Two weeks ago I had the pleasure to do a soap-bubble-shoot with a cute little girl… I expected it to be easier than it really was… both, toddlers and soap-bubbles, are unpredictable ;-)

Nevertheless I like the results – most certain because I became fond of that little girl!
